Commemoration of the Seventieth Anniversary of the North Barrule Air Crash.
A service will be held at Christ Church Dhoon on Sunday 26th April (this Sunday) at 11 am which will include the 70th anniversary commemoration of the USAAF Boeing B-17 crash on North Barrule when 31 people were killed.
All will be warmly welcomed!
In addition to the service, Bishop's Minister, Nigel Cretney has proposed the erection of a permanent memorial in the Dhoon Church or grounds; a project which the Commissioners hope to support.
It is also hoped that all the crew and passengers will be named within the memorial. Mr Cretney has asked the Manx Aviation Preservation Society for their input, and hopes to be able to contact the descendants of those who died, as well as the successor Squadron of the one to which the Flying Fortress belonged.
